Kaisercraft February challenge

Today I am playing along with the February challenge at Kaisercraft.

The challenge this month is to use Hexagons.

And here is my layout-

I created a mixed media background using Denim Kaisermist, Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Cube.

I die cut all my hexagons with the Kaisercraft 'Stitched Hexagon' set. I really love how the set has multiple nesting sizes to cut 'hollow' shapes.

I used Kaisercraft papers from Indigo Skies and Sage And Grace collections.

I also added some Indigo Skies Collectables, but the hexagons themselves in different patterns are such a feature I didn't have to add too many embellishments.

Dusty Attic February challenge

Today I am playing along with the February challenge at The Dusty Attic. With such a grungy, masculine mood board how could I resist!!!

Here's a look at the mood board-

And here is my page-

I used some Cocoa Vanilla denim paper and Kaisercraft paper for the base.
I created a 'watercolour' base using inks. I then used some Colour Blast Colour Pastes through some Dusty Attic stencils -  'Just Blue' Colour Paste through a Distressed Grid stencil and  'Leather' Colour Paste through a Glass Stains stencil.

I coloured some Dusty Attic Industrial Barbed Stars with inks and Colour Blast Colour Paste, as well as some Dusty Attic Industrial Stars. I also used pieces of a Dusty Attic Tangled Barb Wire Small panel which I painted a lighter aqua to add some contrast.

I used a Dusty Attic 100% Boy chipboard piece for my title, painting it first with acrylic paint then heat embossing with Colour Blast Colour Embossing Powder in 'Just Blue'.

I also added a denim chevron from Charm's Creations and some Flutterby Designs flair buttons and page tab.

Scrap The Boys Jan challenge - DT share

Today I am sharing my final project as part of the Scrap The Boys
team. I have had such a great time on this team over the past 2 years.

This month's challenge is to use flowers on a boys layout
- yes it can be done.

Here is my DT page-

I've used some Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust in 'Lush' to create my watercolour background. I've then added some stamping with a Dylusions leaf stamp.

I've added some flowers from D-lish Scraps, some Uniquely Creative feather dies, and some wood veneer pieces from Rainbow Splendour.

I've used a Heidi Swapp wood veneer 'hello' as my title.
I've kept all my wood veneer pieces raw
to add to the 'outdoors' theme of my page.

I hope you can give this challenge a go!

Jot Magazine January mood board challenge

Its been very hot here over the past few days -
the perfect weather to stay inside and scrap!

Today I am playing along with this month's
mood board challenge at Jot Magazine.

Here's a look at the gorgeous mood board.

Anything with a beach theme is right down my alley.
So naturally I scrapped my favourite beach photo.

And here is my page-

I love the wood grain and the natural themes in the mood board,
as well as that dreamy colour palette.

I've used a piece of Kaisercraft 'Mint Wishes' wood grain paper for my base, and I have also added some Kaisercraft quote stickers.

I've used some Hip Kit Club alphas, Little Birdy flowers,
D-lish Scraps resin flowers, Uniquely Creative feather dies,
and some flair buttons
from D-lish Scraps and Fabrika Decoru.

to match my photos.

I created a background using sprays and
Colour Blast 'Steel' Colour Paste through a star stencil.

I stamped various star stamps then fussy cut them out
to continue my star theme.
I also added a Kaisercraft quote sticker.

I added some embellishments from Charm's Creations
and a flair from Flutterby Designs.
I finished the page with a scattering of navy sequins.

Dusty Attic December Challenge

Now that Christmas is over for another year and
I have a few days of holidays, I managed to get one more
creative piece done before the end of the year.

Today I have created a piece inspired by the
December challenge at Dusty Attic.

I have created a dream catcher, using an upcycled gift box.
I was inspired by the gorgeous pastel colours of the mood board, especially the mint, pink, yellow and silver.

I started with a white box and I painted the front with black gesso (and some glitter) and painted the sides of the box with Kaisercraft 'Spearmint' acrylic paint.

I've used a Dusty Attic String Frame chipboard piece for the frame of my dream catcher. I have coloured this with Colour Blast Colour Paste in 'Envy'.

I've used a Dusty Attic 'Blueprint - Imagine' chipboard piece for my title. I coloured it with Dylusions paint in Peony Blush and then added a layer of Glossy Accents to make it shine.

I can't get enough of these Uniquely Creative Feather dies - perfect for die-cutting my feathers from several different patterned papers.
To add layers to my feathers I used the negative piece from the Dusty Attic 'Boho Feathers' chipboard set as a stencil to paint in some feathers underneath.

Lastly I added some flowers and some paint 'strings'.
I also added lots of splatters using watered-down gesso, Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Cubes and Colour Shimmer Spray.

I just loved how it turned out.

Scrap The Boys Dec challenge - DT share

This month at Scrap The Boys the challenge is an inspiration image.
There is so much to take from this
- the rainbow colours, the Christmas theme etc.

I was inspired by the rainbow colours and the triangle shape,
and this is what I came up with

To make my background I cut out a heap of triangles from different coloured cardstock, drew a border on each then folded up the edges. I have to admit it took about 2 days to make all of these triangles, but I think the effect is worth it! I have used up the leftovers in my art journal.

I added some Kraft paper and coloured papers under my photos, and added a Charm's Creation embellie to continue the triangle theme.
I used some puffy stickers for my title.
